power
« on: April 27, 2014, 07:38:34 AM »
is abuse of power of those in power ubiquitous?
or perhaps only a small majority do it?
maybe it can be modeled with the power(haha)-law where the majority abuse a little and some abuse a lot?
is it based on personality, so everyone can be assigned a number for how likely they are to abuse power?

what about general use of power, excluding abuse? do those in power always use their power? etc.

I think most people in power will eventually try to see to what extent they can get away with something.
Maybe many people in power turn a blind eye to abuses of power, out of fear of losing their own power or because of a clique.

I think regardless of who is in power, no matter how pure they are, there will probably always be someone else who thinks they can do better with that power.

Yes, about everyone who has power abuses it.

what about this forum's mods? they could make tighter rules and restrictions

or what about public school teachers? they could probably get away giving an unrealistic workload easily

let's focus more on the use (rather than abuse) of power. does everyone use power, or maybe, like some TUPS delegates, just let it sit?

Not that kind, like power over a country, or power over BP, or something like that.

power is power, no matter what kind. (ok we're not talking energy/dt here)

change in time

power is energy over change in time. for example, 1000 joules used in 5 seconds is 200 watts because 1000/5=200

but we're not talking that kind of power
