Loreen - Euphoria - Live - Grand Final - 2012 Eurovision Song ContestWelcome to the official Eurovision 2013 hype thread! Still more than 2 weeks away until the final, however Eurovision season starts in December. Never a bad time to get hype. This year unfortunately lacks on the side of amazing songs, however never a bad year in order to go over the basics.
Introduction- 39 different countries send an entry every year. Countries like Israel and Armenia are in the contest, so it isn't completely Europe specific.
- There are 2 semi-finals, 33 of the 39 songs compete for 20 places in the final. 10 songs from each semi-final. 6 entries automatically qualify to the final, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Germany, France and the host, Sweden.
- Songs are not the only part of the contest, live performances as well as vocals have a big effect. A good song can be killed by bad staging or bad vocals. Generally, the entry with the best of everything wins.
- Songs do vary quite a bit in music genres, however all of it can be fit under the "bubblegum pop" category.
