This is a simulation of the upcoming encounter with 2012 DA14 on Feburary 15, 2013... "a record close approach for a known object of this size."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_DA14

This simulation was created from data from NASA/JPL's Horizon System. Notice how the mass of the Earth makes the path of 2012 DA14 bend. I added a ring of geosynchronous particles to show how the asteroid is going to pass inside the ring of geosynchronous satellites that orbit our planet.

Anyone can view this simulation using the Free or Premium/Steam version of Universe Sandbox.

Yeah. I can't wait.
Unfortunately The asteroid will only be seen in Asia, while we will be facing the opposite direction of the asteroid's close approach.
