The Nostradamus Effect
« on: September 27, 2009, 10:28:19 AM »
Everyone has been hearing so much about 2012 being doomsday and such.

Is it real?

I present to you the Nostradamus Effect.

In 2012 Solar activity will climax. This is not a story. Not an opinion. This is real. Not Mayan, not New-Age predictions. This. Is. Real.

Do you believe? Or do you think this is just some fairytale made by a fake "scientist"

Your choice. Make it quick.

I bet solar activity climax is not equal to global extinction...

Anyways, if anything destroys all life on Earth or whatever it does in 2012, it has NOTHING to do with our calenders or anything like that. It is simply the result of physical laws, like everything else. :)

I never said it had anything to do with calendars. I don't get stuff like that.

When solar activity climaxes, it will cause mass extinction on Earth. Solar winds. Ozone elimination. Stuff like that.

Be prepared. Be afraid.

Be very afraid.

Do. Not. Succumb.

the humans lived about 1 million years, and then *boem* there dead
if nibiru would be real it would have passed the earth more then 1 times
and nostradamus sayed the world would end in 1980: *the sun will split in 2*
thats what he sayed

But Nostradamus predicted a devastating comet impact in the year 3797.

I present to you the Nostradamus Effect.

Because Nostradamus' so-called "predictions" are vague and lack specific dates it becomes "easy to quote them selectively after every major dramatic event and retrospectively claim them as 'hits'."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nostradamus#Works

And his source for his predictions was Judicial astrology, which, like all astrology, is nonsensical pseudoscience (make believe).
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Judicial_astrology

Check this out to see some of Nostradamus' vague predictions:
http://listverse.com/2007/09/14/top-10-prophecies-of-nostradamus-debunked/

In 2012 Solar activity will climax. This is not a story. Not an opinion. This is real. Not Mayan, not New-Age predictions. This. Is. Real.

It is true that solar activity will peak in the next few years (although it looks like the peak will occur in 2013, not 2012). The thing to keep in mind is that this happens every 12 years. This is not a new phenomena.
http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2009/29may_noaaprediction.htm

In short:
Nostradamus didn't predict anything.
and
2012 is not the end of the world.

Well explained, I think that settles it. :P
But I read something in an astronomy magazine that the next solar peak would be more powerful than the earlier ones, and that it would probably destroy much of our electronic infrastructure.

Naru, I think it's the plasma and other particles that the Sun emits into the solar system. When they reach our planet, they get attracted by the poles and create aurorae (aurora borealis/australis).
Wikipedia/Solar cycle
But if the solar storm is too powerful, some of the particles will reach us...

Of course the solar radiation will increase. But the Gaia Hypothesis states that the temperature will stay the same.
In short, I say it's fake.
