Anyways, if anything destroys all life on Earth or whatever it does in 2012, it has NOTHING to do with our calenders or anything like that. It is simply the result of physical laws, like everything else.

It is true that solar activity will peak in the next few years (although it looks like the peak will occur in 2013, not 2012). The thing to keep in mind is that this happens every 12 years. This is not a new phenomena.

Well explained, I think that settles it.
But I read something in an astronomy magazine that the next solar peak would be more powerful than the earlier ones, and that it would probably destroy much of our electronic infrastructure.

Naru, I think it's the plasma and other particles that the Sun emits into the solar system. When they reach our planet, they get attracted by the poles and create aurorae (aurora borealis/australis).

Of course the solar radiation will increase. But the Gaia Hypothesis states that the temperature will stay the same.
In short, I say it's fake.
