Andromeda & Milkway collision
« on: May 04, 2011, 03:21:21 PM »

When exactly is this supposed to happen?

I'm at 2.5 million million years and they just keep spiraling each other like a double helix. When will their galactic cores merge? What im seeing on the default layout isn't like what i've seen on TV/Docu previously. Am I doing something wrong? I just entered the default galaxy view and started speeding it up.

odd, at around 8 million million years they both just kind of shot off in their own directions. Aren't the super massive black holes supposed to merge?

Yes. They would merge in reality, but Universe Sandbox uses point masses for galaxies when in reality the mass is distributed. This is a known limitation of the software.

Ah Ok :( . It's still a great/fun piece of software. Excellent work. I've been wanting something like this for at least the past 2 years but didn't have the ability to create it myself. So, Thank you.

Now to go crash asteroids into mars.
