caves! (im fine with mobs, but i hate caves)
nether! ( im convinced ill fall in lava although i look up and down every single block i mine and make sure its not lava. Unfortunately, i need large quantities of netherrack to expand my flaming borders)

half an hour of strip mining yielded 4 diamonds, 22 gold, 24 lapis, 2 stacks of coal, 4 stacks of redstone and 18 iron.

diamond and gold are just as common per block in their layers, but gold goes twice as high so finds cave systems thrice as much because they are biased towards layers 20-50 instead of lower or higher than that.

eh, i was strip mining at level 14, so should have not much to do with that

anyway, my daily total is

25 diamonds 40 gold, 44 lapis, a stack of iron (yay!) and way too much coal/redstone...

I think it was mostly because they kept moving the camera around (I think it was on an Android). When they actually focused and kept the camera steady, it was like the title screen picture.

The 1.8 pre-release is addicting... I've seen rivers and a huge ravine... The evenings are awesome, completely smooth transition.
And I found a swamp with vines, it looked both awesome and unique.
The random FPS drops are annoying though, and it also crashes often.

I've walked for 2 km, but haven't found any strongholds or towns yet. Still searching.
