And about using my calculator, I'm absolutely not forcing anyone to use it... But it's extremely simple: Type in numbers in each of the white cells, if you claim three zones at your border, type 3 in that cell and it'll show the cost and how much your production is increased by and how many new zones you get during a turn.

Also I'm at a disadvantage... I don't like the fact I get to grow horizontally... Yay for super quick multipliers! Not.

What's wrong with my calc? It should work fine, if you use it correctly. Remember that everything described includes the zone which it is on, so if it says conquering an extractor, you only type that you conquer it there, and don't type it into the zone cells as well. In other words, each zone is only entered once into the calc.

Remember that the zones become 5 times as expensive to conquer if they're two zones away, 10 times if they're 3 away, etc. (the rules say more about this). You overspent this turn.

If you have Open Office, try this. It worked when I used it in Excel with this extension, so it'll probably work in Open Office too. Open Office is completely free.

What do you mean by 12 resources?
Your turn became very expensive because you coquered many zones you didn't border directly. The cost of taking a zone 2 zones away from you is multiplied by 5, and 3 is multiplied by 10.
