The Novaneian Empire was on the brink of collapse. Suffering through famines was the norm, and conflicts with internal and foreign groups led the people to lose faith in the government. No doubt within a decade there were multiple attempts at revolution for the country, wishing to oust the royal government. However, one promising individual though - their name recognized as Lisabeya - proclaimed that they must go west. Why, some might ask? To escape the effects of Hakiism, an ancient belief in which that the moon Haki held supernatural powers over Pavala.
It was known to the world that the great moon, Haki, straddled over the entire continent of Pangaea*. In the skies the celestial object stuck with the night, a sore thumb against the background of luminous stars and nebulaes. Lisabeya reasoned that the moon itself was the reason why Novaneia was failing, and that the moon was actually a judgmental being. Rather than stay and possibly die in the country, they must face risks sailing west to escape the effects of Haki.
Most of the population weren't swayed by such a disastrous idea, and simply thought the idea of Hakiism itself was preposterous. There were few, however, who took on such tasks (including Lisabeya herself), even being granted riches by several families in order to accommodate for their seafaring travels. They took a hefty bet on that they would come back, and Lisabeya held great promise.
So it was then after a year when ships came to the Empire full of never-before-seen riches and goods that the Great Migration* occurred. Common sea routes depicted below during the first Migration waves.
