I don't know if it does statistically. I think that would be near impossible to find out. But statistically it means there's less chance of getting health problems (which are expensive for society) and it increases your productivity to be healthy (which is good for society).
I also think not eating candy means you'll find joy in eating other things. I'm high on oatmeal as I write this reply. The salad from yesterday was fantastic as well. I think a lot of it is a question of what you're used to, so I'm not sure if eating candy necessarily leads to more pleasure in itself.
Also, remember eating candy may feel nice while you eat it, but the energy from e.g. sugar goes pretty much directly into your blood. Long carbohydrates give you energy over a much longer period of time so I think that'll make you feel better and more fresh during the periods when you're not eating.
