Norton Antivirus causing problem with non-Steam verison
« on: July 08, 2011, 07:20:21 PM »
Hey, I've tried Downloading the Free Version of Universe Sandbox and whenever I try out the Game, I either get about 2 Minutes of Gameplay (or none at all)  and the Game shuts down, my Security System Pops up and deletes the .exe file because the Program was "acting suspicious" and could not be trusted... does anyone know how to stop this from happening? That is unless it's actually Hostile... I don't think it is considering it's from a trusted source and I've tried multiple times with the same result on two different computers. Thanks.

I split this message out and renamed the subject to mention Norton, but I should ask, are you using Norton Antivirus?

I've seen it cause some of the problems you've mentioned with the latest non-Steam version 2.1.3.

I'm not sure why it's doing that and I'm quite certain that there is no threat or virus in the software.

Are you still having this problem?

Here are a few of the scans I did with VirusTotal, they all show nothing:

converter.exe

Sorry i'm late saying this, but Norton's scanner looks for "suspicious" words/symbols inside the main .exe  file belonging to the Program. A problem occurred with a "Virus Testing Video" on YouTube, just because it had the word "Virus" in the title. Norton Sucks and should be replaced with something the free Antivirus "avast! Free Antivirus".
