Weird... it's not properly initializing the device:

The last line in Engine Log is:
07-10-2011 17:00:33 | DEVICE INIT : Initializing the device in windowed mode, with a render surface size of 1280x720, format 22, depthbuffer 75

The last line in Sandbox Log is:
     0 | 2011-07-10 17:00:33.000 | MainForm.Handle = 2753934

I'm not sure I've seen a problem like this.

How does it crash? Does it give you any message? Do you see any window?

i have seen two flavors of the issue, either it does nothing at all, the exe in task manager will display for a moment at most, or the window will pop up, act like its trying to do something, then give out a error report.

This may be a system error and unrelated to Universe Sandbox. Try this and let me know what it comes up with:
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic43051.html

And are you running any kind of virus protection?

You appear to be having the exact same problem as the individual here:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?p=23687584

For some reason it's crashing on the "initialize the 3D engine" line of code.

Send me an email: dan at universe sandbox dot com
And include a link to this page so I know what the email is about and I'll send you a simple text app to see if it's an engine problem specifically.
