Title: Post your config here !
Post by: Vince77 on July 31, 2014, 11:48:49 AM
Hello everyone, I've created this thread because there is something I fear absolutely;
the performance of the game. The thing is I don't know if the game will run well on my computer.
The original US run at about 30 fps with 1 body in it but after more than 50 body, the game start to get to 10 fps, does the new US will run better or slower ?

Unfortunately Slower,maybe because I have a prehistoric computer :P

Can you post your config ?

You want my configuration?

However US2 on my pc runs fast enough on a body 24 fps. Then it is slower because the details of the planets are very high and the orbital engine is much improved.

uh oh. Maybe it's just running slow just that day (sometimes my computer had bad hairperformance days.) if not, maybe try refreshing your computer (turn on turn off).

Hopefully US2 will have better optimization in the near future.

I find out why I had low FPS on US1, I removed the labels and the trails and I set the ambient lighting to zero (more realistic lighting) and I got 100 fps with 300 bodies in the simulation.

i7 4770K @ 3.5GHz
32gb RAM
GTX Titan
8TB HDD.

No clue yet on my US2 frame rate, but I think it's safe to say that if I tank on a sim, everyone else will too. The Titan, while an underwhelming graphics card from its pricepoint, is a beast processing wise for this sort of thing.

I don't think the Titan is underwhelming in a price point of view. It's a 1,000 bucks for a reason. A 780 TI comes close, which is more competitive I guess, because most people will look for the better price vs performance comparison.

The Titan has 2688 CUDA cores, that's a lot of shaders for processing. And that 6 GB VRAM isn't just there for show either. You should be sitting pretty with that GPU, as this next iteration of Universe Sandbox looks like it will have better performance. We'll all find out soon enough.

No, it really is underwhelming from a purely graphical perspective. It's that additional brute force that can only come into play for other things that makes it worthwhile. To put it simply, it's not really a gamer's card (you can get somewhat better performance at a lower cost if you want), but it is a good card for all kinds of other intensive nonsense - which makes it ideal for this for sort of thing.

Win7 64-bit Home Premium

Processor:

Intel(R) Core (TM) i3 CPU
2.53 GHz

IntelHDGraphics 4000 or 6000 (I don't remember, I even don't know like a noob)
4 processors.

Edit: Nobody Cares  ::)

The Titan bridges the gap between gaming and multimedia. Video editing, 3D rendering, and photo processing must be a lot of fun with that card. :)

I really hate to see systems that are better than mine. Because I have no money to get a better one. My PC is not the best.

Yes I hate this also, but this thread will help many people (who have actually money) to optimize their game.
And also if you don't like to see better config than your, you should not read this thread !

I don't know how helpful it will be (maybe helpful to the devs somehow), but here goes.

2011 MacBook Pro w/

2.4 GHz Intel Core i5 processor
4 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 ram
Intel HD Graphics 3000 384 MB graphics card
OS X 10.9.2 (thinking about starting a Yosemite partition since I have early access lol)

well anyway!

I think the most sketch thing on the list is the graphics card but tbh it runs every game through 2014 on high. so. idk. 384 MB seems a lil weak.
