Lighting Snaping On & Off with Camera Angle
« on: February 08, 2019, 11:47:47 AM »
This is a new one for me. I have realistic lighting turned on and I won't see the planets at all unless I play with the camera position and they will flicker into existence. The lighting intensity doesn't seem to matter. Has anyone heard of this before?

I thought I remembered you saying you were on a Windows system, but perhaps you're using Linux now? If so, this is a known bug that we're looking into. A temporary solution is to change it to something other than Realistic lighting. But hopefully we can get this fixed soon.

But please let me know if you're on Windows, as that's not something I'm familiar with. In that case, a log would be helpful: http://universesandbox.com/support/emaillog

It's Windows 10. I haven't switched to Linux... yet.

I'll need to wait for the next collision if I can only send it when the US² is closed, otherwise I'll lose my progress.

Okay no worries, that's fine, you can send it when you get a chance.

Does changing the lighting to something other than Realistic fix the issue? Another user also reported that changing the camera FOV (View > More) fixed this. It would be interesting to see if the same solutions work for what has otherwise only been seen on Linux.

It does only seem to occur on Realistic and it only seems to affect lower Field-of-view values.
