1000 wheat
1000 seeds
1000 cactus
1000 wood
200 sugarcane
100 netherbrick
1000 cobblestone

I can set aside a small chest full of cobble for collective storage, no prob. Similar for dirt, sand and anything else we need.

I think I'll make a collective storage out of one of my skyscrapers.
I can easily expand the warehouse for collective storage dedicated floors.

I can go down 70 blocks or up 130.

I am part of the UBSR, I just don't share a border because I have SKA (an Autarky) to the north. Not sure if Fiah is suppoused to be in it or not, sortof?

I am.

I don't think you'll be needing that much space for collective storage. Although the available space per floor is smaller than for my warehouse.

Manually.

If you give me the coords of a collective storage I can tp there and count them though.

It'll be in the warehouse, but I'll make a new floor or two for it first.

And don't waste your time on having cobble in a collective storage, smjjames. We have more cobble than we could ever need. Just store it in a public storage so everyone can take what they need. If you ever run out, just take some from Spawntown's public storage.
It's your own choice, I just don't see any point in storing it in a collective storage.

I explored to the -3000,-3000 border, A lot of sea, no mushroom islands though. :( Also, Naru, when I respawned, how did you know?

Just Kipz being a tree hugging elf :) lol

Bla, I went ahead and made the tunnel through the mountains, you can start the road at -1078, 1390, which is the end of the tunnel. Theres also a chest with lots of cobblestone (from the excavation itself) which you can use for building the road if you want to use that.

Hrm, I understand about cobblestone, but what about putting dirt into collective storage?

I also put sandstone in there, which can double as smooth sandstone for collective storage since its input is equal to output.

Oh yea, Bla, the teleport coords for the collective storage is -742, 55, 1268, that'll put you almost in the middle of the room, although if you don't mind teleporting into the ladder shaft, -740, 55, 1269.

Also, I decided to go ahead and build the road and the bridge. I went and did the required 20 blocks (meters) from the station as well.

Anyways, since I want to get the railway tunnel set up, heres my ideas. I took screenshots of the local map as its the next best thing to a world map that we've got for now (including the isometric, but this requires an aerial view).

My idea is to go south to the 1500 mark, then head west. In the second one, see the brown pixel in the orange circle? Thats the advance base, just for a point of reference. Here, I have four possible ideas, the yellow route will go through more shallow water, so the underwater tunnel won't be as long, the red route is simply punching through to deep water. The blue one is just an alternate location that the rail can head south on and westwards for more awesome underwater vistas. Finally, the green option is to keep heading west through the bay and then south.

Bla, when do you update the map? Is it every thursday, or when you feel like it? Or when...?

When I feel like it.

Also, you don't have to graph what you store in collective storages yet. I was just asking if you thought it was a good idea.

I think it'd be a good idea and get a better total. It's not asking too much to set aside some resources for collective storage and the majority of the materials will likely be in spawntown anyway. Could be useful if we ever do any really big projects.

And ah, what about the rail line ideas? I wanted to go ahead and get started on the tunnel, but wasn't sure if I needed to wait or something. Also going to need help with doing the water tunnels when I get to that point since I don't know the technique for building them.

Which one of those water crossings would work best? I know the main bay area (near the center of the second map) is much deeper than 50, not sure about the other bay/inlet, but probably has more areas that are shallower. I'm just asking as I'm going to have to make a water tunnel unless I make a huge circle of a detour north, through the swamp, and back down.

Personally, I'm thinking either the green route or one of the blue routes which connects to either yellow or red and allows for a  longer view.

I can supply glass on site, so that won't be a problem.

You can choose which route it should be, but I'd like to wait starting on the project some days if possible.

I can understand waiting on the planning and constructing the underwater tunnels, but can i at least do the tunnel down to the 1500 mark and west to around the shallow inlet just west of half-moon bay?

I should at least take a look at the depths of both bays, although the old world map shows the smaller bay to be typical deep ocean topography.

Also, in looking at the map, I'm noticing that older areas (the core, if you will) show the ocean elevations as smooth while newer ones (past a certain version, no idea which one) have the elevation looking ll chaotic and if you're in the open ocean and have brightness on max, you can see its largely mountainous and craggy. Wonder what changed in the worldgen there.

Yea, I wondered if there was still a mushroom farm in there when I visited it. Not really sure what a mushroom farm would be doing right on top of a skeleton dungeon, but okay....

smjjames, do you have a spare inventory of dirt I could use? (Wheat farm)
Also, do you want your name capitalized in the beginning of the sentence?

I've got over a large chest full of it in the warehouse, but I've set up a small chest worth of dirt in the public storage/bazaar (which I probably should have done already, heh), should be plenty for a good sized wheat farm, and its fine to capitalize the name at the beginning of the sentence.

The mushroom farm was there before the xp farm. Ventus blaccidentally dug left into the pick up point from the mushroom farm and ladderfied it.

Smjjames, you can start on the tunnel if you want, as long as you follow The Rules.

I know the basic setup, so it's not a problem. I stopped at coords -900, 1500 until I can get some planning in for the next step. There's loads of redstone torches in storage, so I can supply those.

Edit: I've decided on the green route since that one has the best chance to have an underwater view and has more flexibility with the station end.

Hey guys, turns out that two dungeons I had found a long time ago (the cave system is 90%+, if not 100% explored) are right smack along the rail line. The upper one is a zombie dungeon and the mob spawner won't be in the way. I had forgotten about them and didn't realize that they'd be right along the route.

Pretty cool isn't it :D

Very kool. :)

I think we also have a spawner on the right side before the underwater tunnel leading to Oaks Pass.

Done with the non-flooding parts of the tunnels. I attempted to go to the -1500, 1500 point (the southbound leg is on the -1500 x axis), I managed to have a part of it be dry, but even that has water above it. Also, the section of ocean between -1500, 1500 and -1500, 1579 drops off fast and is deeper than 50 at that area.

I haven't decided on the exact location that the station will be at, but the end point of -1500, 1700 hangs over a ravine (with an abandoned mine at the bottom), would make for an awesome location.

Also, an idea, what about being able to decorate the walls with vines? I'll have to investigate whether having vines along the wall has any effect as far as the carts go.

Edit: They won't occupy the block that the track is on anyway and its fine with them on the wall.

Will a small chest worth of glass blocks be enough for the project? I can make a large chest worth if you think that might be needed.
