Tidal heating going wacko
« on: December 09, 2016, 12:48:53 PM »
I don't know what's going on, but tidal heating goes crazy with time compression and close orbits in general. I put a large moon in a close orbit around a gas giant 1.5x the mass of Jupiter, and the moon started heating up to over 100 degrees while the gas giant became red-hot at over 1000 degrees.

Editing orbits also has odd tidal heating effects.

Thanks for reporting this. We did some testing and it looks like our tidal heating doesn't handle some extreme cases well. We're working on addressing this.  :)
