[BUG] Possible bugs in Mac version
« on: December 01, 2015, 05:06:44 PM »
(I apologise in advance: I'm a new user - thank Markiplier for reviewing it - I forgot I had it in Steam's wishlist; also thanks to you and/or Steam for being part of the Black Friday sale.  That being said, the items below may just be n00b issues on my behalf; likewise, I didn't know if this should be 1 post or 3.)

If I grow a star to insane sizes (past 12 suns I think) with Realistic on, it goes nova (makes sense so far), and the nova remnant has Realistic turned off.  If I turn it back on, the temperature goes over 30000 K and is not adjustable.  Is this a bug or a feature?

Also, if i keep adding mass anyway until the escape velocity > c, it doesn't quite turn into a black hole; the simulation just loses its mind as far as mass and size goes, and is not adjustable.

Lastly, adding rings appears to do nothing.

Thanks, these are good observations.

We are currently reworking stellar evolution, which may address the first point. Or in the least will be something to look at again once we've made some bigger changes.

I do see stars turning into black holes after a large mass increase, but it seems the calculations for mass, radius, and density start behaving strangely. This is something we're looking into now.

As for rings, those should work... Try following these steps:
1 - Open Rings tab in Add panel
2 - Select a ring preset
3 - Click once on a body in your simulation
4 - Now click the Add Ring button

Does that work? Also try opening the simulation "Saturn with Rings." You should see ring particles in this simulation.

Thanks - sorry, I never noticed the Add Ring button, and/or forgot to select the body to add the rings to.
