An early look at the new collision system in Universe Sandbox 3...

Universe Sandbox 3 Doomsday

The developers at Universe Sandbox don't think the world will really end on Dec 21st. But if it does, it might look something like this.

Here is a preview of real-time game play in Version 3, coming in 2013, if the world is still here.

Apologies for the screen flashing - this is a problem with the video capture, not with Universe Sandbox. Note also that this is a work in progress. It will be even more epic when we release.

Eric created the simulation and made the video. He's also done much of the math work on the collisions and a nod to Georg for his work on the visuals.

I think so, either that or the surface becoming shattered, or both.

Oh yeah, Dan, you REALLY, REALLY should show a collision between a planet and another planet or moon sized object.

There's still more work to do on the collision system to make a Mars and Earth collision look good... it works, but kinda broken looking at the moment.

I have a question of my own.
It seems that at the end of the video, part of Earth's ocean seems heavily impacted by the large asteroids.
Did the ocean boil away?

How about collision of Jupiter and Saturn or Neptune and Uranus
Neptune is less bigger than Uranus, but having more mass
Uranus is bigger than Neptune, but having less mass
How confusing

And how about a planet or asteroid hit the sun?
