Okay, here are [my ideas for] achievements:

I think what would need to happen is for one of them, have a "game" area, and the other just normally playing US.

Now, for NORMAL...

  • First system - Open a system
  • Happy Hour (yes, typical) - First full hour
  • Full Day - Play a total of one day
  • 24/7 - play a total of one week
  • Earth maker - place 5 earths
  • Jupiter maker - place 5 jupiters
  • extrasolar - Make a 5 MJ planet
  • Hydrogen Fusion - Make a planet turn to a star (i remember making Jupiters collide till they had the sun texture, but Jupiter colored, idk if you can still do that
  • Addicted - play a total of 1000 hours

Now for the Game area. I was thinking in the game area, you had a list of challenges, and maybe there could be user submitted challenges later (WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY later). I know! Maybe on the Universe sandbox site there can be a community area, with peoples Uploaded creations, and profiles, with their achivements in their profile. And depending on what achivements you got, you get points, which give you a rank, just to say how many you got? Kind of like on http://modnation.com/

Challenges (I say call them "Test your skills")

  • Shoot an Earth at Jupiter from a distance of over (1,000,000; 2 million, 5 million) km
  • Shoot an Earth at Jupiter from a distance over (1,000,000; 2 million, 5 million) km and have it consume a moon
  • Shoot a small object (<5 km) past the Moon (orbiting Earth) from over 100,000 km away and have it come within 500 km of the surface
  • ... then have it come back within 5 orbits of the moon within 5000 km
  • Shoot a small object past any two objects the size Ceres or bigger (could be a "General" but would work better if a Ceres and a Europa (for example) were set in stable orbits around an Earth) and have the object come within 10,000 km of both within 3 orbits of the [outer one]. (probably quite complicated)

Normal

  • Ring Beginner - make a ring around a moon/planet/star/etc.
  • Ring Master - make at least 3 kind of rings around a moon/planet/star/etc.
  • Mad Galaxies - make two new galaxies and let them collide eachother
  • Peaceful Galaxies - make two new galaxies and let them both orbit stable
  • Oh the Humanity! (name from Spore) - explode Earth

Challenging
  • Moon's Crazy Side - (in Earth & Moon simulation) lower the velocity of the moon and make it from 5000 km from the surface of the Earth.
  • Gravity Ball - (in Solar System simulation) shoot a new asteroid from Neptune to the inner Solar System with 50 km as the velocity. Make sure it doesnt hit the other gas giants, unless their at the opposite.

I know another, for the Challenges/game:

Have a preset of two 1/2 moon mass objects orbiting earth from 1/2 a LD, and one at 1 LD, and shoot an object (already in orbit at 1/8 LD) out (using the velocity) to interecpt moon 1 within 100000 km, and then go in orbit moon 2 at lower than 200000 km, within 3 orbits of moon 2. Kinda complicated, but I could show how you do it.

I like this idea of achievements very much: there are so many things to try and guess, the only limit is your imagination but you can also easily get lost so I think achievements are a good way to bootstrap the process  Cool
