Can you not create planets inside galaxies?
« on: October 18, 2012, 01:53:24 PM »
I've had this for a long time but I gave up on it.  Trying again on new PC, same damn problems.

I plop down the Milky Way, then add a star and a planet.

First problem:  I can't zoom in more than 1.65 light years.

Second problem:  I save and load it up again, and it encounters and error and has to delete the galaxy.

I mean, what's up with this?  Is Universe Sandbox only good for single systems?  I have never gotten it to work in 2 years.

It worked for me.

But I don't think it would've worked if I tried placing a moon in Earth's orbit... It likes to land from a big distance. Yes, Universe Sandbox doesn't seem to like large variations in sizes. I'm not sure why but it seems like a very common thing in programs, Google SketchUp for example.

Boo.

I want to recreate galaxies, such as Mass Effect, or Star Wars, whatever.  Obviously I can't do it with the galaxy object.  Is it possible just by placing stars?  Or am I going to put down two star systems and it not load up on me?  What's the limit?

When I used the program to make a group of stars with moons, the limit in which the moons would load onto the planets would be 1-3 lightyears IIRC

If you want place the stars, there is no problem, for the planets it's not possible :s. Now, I hope that US3 will correct this problem.
