because we'd hit the sky limit
-> Not if we extend it in width.

when you place a block where a dropped item is, you can move it. Glitch can be abused to move item all the way into vot slot.
-> But can't you close off the area so that you can only put your vote in, and then have a private iron door for me to count the votes?

The different voting slots, is there one voting slots for each person or one voting slot for each option in the poll?

1 voting slot per person
if you have more than 1 poll, you'll need another voting slot

"Not if we extend it in width."
Right, but width takes up more space and is generally less easy to use, so i reccomend spreading out in width only after we need to. Right now, 4 slots only takes up 21 blocks of height. 8 slots 41 blocks. If you want 16, we can split it up into two buildings of 41 height

"But can't you close off the area so that you can only put your vote in, and then have a private iron door for me to count the votes?"
yes i can. (but people can still dig their way in and you'd have to do some blanket logblocking)
Thats not the real issue though because votes are only counted when you press the buttons anyway.
Person A tricks Person B into dropping item
Person A uses block to move item up stairs and into Person B's voting slot
Person A can vote "yes" for Person B

Stairs are just easier to push an item up than ladders

Blocks is no problem. I can easily see any block which anyone mines or places.

But I don't like the idea of having a building where only 3 or 4 people can vote. You, I, Naru, Darvince, Bong and Matty are all at least moderately active AND in the UBSR. Plus more people might join in the future. 3 to 4 isn't enough.

And I don't see why you would want to make two buildings rather than one with two machines on each level, that sounds more wasteful of space to me.

We should certainly extend it down first, if anything, before we extend it up to sky limit (which is also extended in the future, btw). I don't want a gigantic skyscraper standing outside Spawntown, that wouldn't fit the city at all. :P

But to be honest... I don't really like the idea of having one voting slot for each person. It just sounds extremely inefficient and wasteful. We should make a poll about whether it should be built or not.

So I found your stuffz, smjjames.
Nice cave you found thar. It's certainly epic. I took a few souvenirs from it.

It's back in the dumping chests, but try to be more careful with it, or use maybe leather armor and iron tools when you go to places where you think you might die.

The cool thing is that it's almost directly south of the desert village, at lest the initial entrance that I found is, but the main one I put a cairn up nearby.

Could you explain the following acronyms?
usbrbsurbs
usbrsub
UBSR
usnnnrsnnbsrbsbbr (I'm guessing this one is fake)

Also, could you please put a new map up? I want to see what the newly explored areas look like to the southeast (other than a huge frozen region down that way).

The only one of those acronyms I know is the Union of Blacraft Socialist Regions.

Will update map later today.

Fiah, I accidentially broke the end of the Revoluta rail. You know the skylight? Well, I accidentially fell and nearly died, so I decided to cover it up, not realizing there was a reason for the skylight. I fixed it up, but now its slightly shorter.

Apologies Fiah....

Going to go back and grab some glass blocks instead and cover it with that. Anyways, lession learned.

Edit: I think I saw some track in the dump chests, I can repair it fully with those.

Hrm, has anybody tried doing fishing?

I looked at the wiki and it looks like fishing will be a bountiful food source, although the fish item might not be released yet.

The large pool in spawntown might make a good fishing spot, dunno.

I only started a few days ago, and I have no idea what the version was when I left.

Anyways, I haven't seen any cooked fish available in Spawntown dining hall...

Fish is really hard to catch in multiplayer, and it's really buggy (at least in multiplayer). In singleplayer it works completely fine, however.

I see.

Anyways, Bla said some pages ago he was waiting for 1.2 to come out before he crops some of the map. The odd version numbering scheme is confusing since the version right now is 1.1 and yet theres the beta 1.8, so its like we are on both 1.1 and 1.8, I think.

Although I played on a multiplayer server before and don't usually play single player anyways, so its possible I simply didn't know about it.

The normal world map has been updated, but I forgot to upload the isometric map. Will do it later today, hopefully.

I'm in no hurry about the isometric map. :)

Although the link for the normal world map doesn't seem to have updated.

Edit: nm, a refresh did it.

Anyways, WOW at the vast frozen area, that was one LONG trek. It also doesn't seem to have updated with my alterations to that island either west or south of the Rebbelan military installation, the isometric map will probably show it though.

I'm also noticing that the borders with the explored/unexplored areas are a little wierd in the vast frozen area, not to mention a bit chunky in places.

I saw on earlier screenshots in the thread that you can have a map up in the corner when you push F3, but when i do that, it doesn't show. How do i do that or is it from an earlier version?

Is it one that bla allows? Although it might be outdated by now as none of Fiahs later screenshots show it.

minimap mod causes incompatibility with bukkit or some plugin bla uses, so it's not allowed. Mods in general are not allowed in blacraft (and they shouldn't work anyway!)

Makes sense anyhow.

Anybody know how to get rid of the water here? Its a pit where I lost some stuff (including some glowstone, sorry guys) while I was trying to plug a hole to the cavern, but alas, the sea is a cruel mistress, even after I attempted to recover the stuff three times. Managed to recover two pieces of diamond armor and the diamond pick. I know I lost them, but seriously, I attempted to get them.

Story aside, I initially decided to let the sea claim the pit, but after a bit, I decided not to simply give up and attempted to plug the holes using sand, but the water isn't going down. I'm also thinking of filling in the pit with sand, but... I dunno.

I've had the thought of using lava, but the physics doesn't quite work the same as Dwarf Fortress (yes, thinking like a dwarf here :) ), so I didn't know how effective that would be. I had also thought of TNT, but in reading the wiki, I can see that it won't work the way I'd intended.

So, is it beyond hope? I've already thought of asking Bla to nuke the island chunk when he does cropping later.

On the map, its the island straight west from the Rebbelan military installation.

You know, in hindsight, I could have used the sand filling method in the first place to seal it.....

you have to either fill it with sand or use a bucket to manually take it all out block by block
