Hm, neat idea and I think we could go for it.

Also I and Yqt have discussed the probably upcoming problem of who gets which new biomes and where, and we think that if the biome isn't next to one of your existing regions or if it's a rare/new biome, you should wait claiming it a bit and post info on it so that we can consider whether it's fair to claim it or if we need to make it a special region or something else.

But even if you duplicated the clay, it would still get reverted, so that should not be a problem.

Just want to mention that we'll be unlikely to let anyone claim ice spikes biomes and only very small portions of the other rare biomes. Just keep that in mind.

Only Swamphold was really claimed and even then it went to the only person who could really be trusted with it. My stronghold just appeared under territory I had already developed.

The reason for ice spikes biome is because there is limited packed ice and trying to claim it simply means getting griefed. Mesa biomes are a similar situation because of how abundant hardened clay is there. Mega taiga, flower forest, sunflower plains and mushroom islands are not so important, but there'll still be some stipulation.

Hm, is it possible that the seed would 'spawn' the third one in land that has already been explored or will it force the stronghold to spawn in unexplored terrain?

Also, for mushroom islands all three resources that are unique to them can be grown or are renewable (mycelium using silk touch, moo shrooms using wheat, and giant mushrooms using little mushrooms and bonemeal)

These policies are only really for the insane amount of land that will be claimed because of 1.7. Once everything cools down, most of the restrictions will probably be removed.

Also you can grow giant mushrooms outside of mushroom islands, just it can't be above light level 4(?) when you do. :P

anyways 8km is plenty. i explored for about an hour and covered 8km in distance but didn't find any ice spikes ;/

People have never explored as much as 256 square kilometers, such a world would fill several gigabytes, so it's completely pointless to set the border any bigger than 8 km. It just encourages people to venture far away instead of exploring equally unknown areas that are closer to spawn, and all we get from it is large black patches on the world map. We've had this discussion before.
