Exoplanet Detection Features in Alpha 13
« on: December 07, 2014, 05:39:05 PM »
Here's a demonstration of some interesting new features related to exoplanet detection. You can now plot the radial velocity of a body and also the fraction of the light from a star that is blocked (ie, transit depth). Both of these values are computed relative to the actual camera position, so you can explore how we might detect exoplanet systems, both real and fictional.

It already can and already is. It is a big focus point for us to be able to use it to educate people, rather than only entertain them. A quote from Dan is "Secretly educating through fun", and I hope we will eventually not have to secretive about it at all ;-)
