Shader Model 3.0
« on: October 08, 2014, 07:41:13 AM »
How do I find out if I have shader model 3.0? I am getting this game in 2 weeks so I want to make sure my computer can run it.

Find out what graphics card you have and look it up on google (or tell me and I'll do it for you ;) )

To find out what Shader Model version you, we'll need to find out what graphics card you have.

To do that, go to start>search bar> type "dxdiag" (without quotes)>hit enter

A window should appear, click on the display tab, this should list what your graphics card is. Whether you have an expensive dedicated graphics card, or just a cheaper integrated GPU, most should have shader model 3.0 or later. You can copy and paste the info to a post, or you can click on "Save all Information."

This saves it to a file, which you can post to this discussion if you like.

I looked it up and looked at various websites, yet none of them have info on what shadermodel or if it even has a shadermodel. It's an Amd Radeon HD 6530D

Well, I did a quick search and found that your HD 6530D is integrated graphics. However, and this is the part you wanted to know, it has has Shader Model 5.0, so you are good to go.

Lets put it this way, graphics cards would not be able to render a game's graphics without some form of a shader, as most games (even more simple 2D games), use shaders.
