Habitable zone! Great

But...  You set the habitable zone as a torus perfectly around Earth orbit. I think that the real habitable zone is bigger and almost reach the orbit of Mars, but doesn't reach the Venus one (so Earth isn't at it's center). And changing the temperature of the star the HZ doesn't change, but the diameter of the star and it's mass do.
At last, and the most difficult I believe, if you set more than one star, the habitable zone should change shape (not remaining 2 separate rings).

Just tried to check out the 3D mode. Is it supposed to split into 2 screens when I change to 3D?

i got a simpel idea, if you place a earth to close (not in habital ring) to a star, it changes texture (earth to venus).
more closer other texture (earth to mercury)
it sounds very simpel :D

Another question, sorry, but what is the action tool? Nothing happens when I click on it.

I think you have to click something else too.

Just tried to check out the 3D mode. Is it supposed to split into 2 screens when I change to 3D?

It's for veiwing with 3D glasses if you paid for more then $25.

That wouldn't be realistic though. You can have a mercury far away, or a Neptune really close. Then your system would never be the way you want.

And changing the temperature of the star the HZ doesn't change, but the diameter of the star and it's mass do.

I don't think that is functional yet.

For the first reply, I do click something else but nothing happens, I think something does I just don't know what it is  :P

As for the 3D, the old version of US didn't split into 2 separate screens, it remained one, just went into 3D mode. For the beta version, it splits into 2 separate screens and isn't in 3D.

hi got a prob it doesn't cause a crash but kills my eyes big time
in the picture attached to this post you will see a thick line striped thru the universe sandbox screen
this rolls down the screen at extreme speed the simulation runs perfect but this can really hurt when it happens

it happens on some of my games where textures are 2d but follow 3d objects for eg on a game called edge of chaos when a laser hits a spaceship it makes a orange 2d splat but as you move to see it flat it causes the same effect as seen in the picture below

i think the graphics card tries to display it but it shouldn't be able too as the 2d object cannot be seen if viewing perfectly in line from 1 of its dimentions and up on the screen is the 3rd dimention in which the object does not exist from your perspective

[Edit] lol i didn't realise it tuck a picture of both screens lmao not to worry [Edit]

How do you get habitable zones? Figured out.

Why doesn't the comets make a trail. I "told" them to make a trail.

when you place a star its a tick box erm well a (X) box above the temperature and the luminosity

hope this helps

btw its only on stars as far as im aware

Is there a way to get Landing to point up, and you be able to scroll the sky like Stellarium? It's fixed generally up.I don't know how to explain.

Just tried to check out the 3D mode. Is it supposed to split into 2 screens when I change to 3D?

I changed the way I store settings and didn't correctly set the 3D default setting.

Go into Settings and change the 3D mode from "cross eyed" to "anaglyph".

Let me know if that fixes it for you.

Is there a way to get Landing to point up, and you be able to scroll the sky like Stellarium? It's fixed generally up.I don't know how to explain.

This is what I still need to implement.

...what is the action tool? Nothing happens when I click on it.

It doesn't do anything yet. It hasn't been hooked up.

...you will see a thick line striped thru the universe sandbox screen

So this kind of problem happens in other games?
Have you tried updating your video drivers?

And changing the temperature of the star the HZ doesn't change, but the diameter of the star and it's mass do.

Still working on making these values correctly alter each other.

At last, and the most difficult I believe, if you set more than one star, the habitable zone should change shape (not remaining 2 separate rings).

Good point, but I won't have time to address this before I launch v2.

Why doesn't the comets make a trail. I "told" them to make a trail.

Try changing the time step to be slower.

...place a earth to close (not in habital ring) to a star, it changes texture (earth to venus).
more closer other texture (earth to mercury)
it sounds very simpel :D

Good idea, but not actually that simple. :) At some point I want to automatically change the texture as you change the properties of a body, but this will have to wait until after v2.

Did anyone have any trouble with getting or applying the update?

That happened to me in the Nearby Galaxies, i erased dust, and I just wanted to see teh orbits.

Too high timestep?

Changing the 3D setting fixed it, thanks!

As for the graphics, that happens to me too. There's some graphics glitches here and there. For example, no matter how big or how small a star is, when you zoom out a little, the graphics on the star start to get funky. Nothing too major, but things like that happen here and there.

In really the habitable zone don't reach Mars all the time.

The habitable zone in solar system are between 118079825 and 220428665 km. The semi-major axis of Mars are 227939100 km, so only in Mars perihelion ( 206669000 km  )  the planet are inside of habitable zone.

The estimative of habitable zone of US are very closer to reality.

I agree with the another of your comments.

nope not at all update works perfect

yer i get same probs where all the polygons seperate on the star so you can see the edge of the triangles/polygons when you zoom in too close to a object near the star even the drawn lines glitch and juder about in the same manner its not a major prob but it can be anoying eg when viewing the constilations

Habitable zone feature is great.   Is it possible for base color to be saved into the save file?
I made a good color scheme for a system but it was reset when I reloaded it.

Overall enjoying the beta. Still lots of things to try.

Yeah, the color scheme thing doesn't always stick. Sometimes for some things the scheme will go back to what it was if you click on something else (for example modifying, say, a star's size after coloring it blue).

Weird bug I just found, but when I try to create rings around an object, immediately when I unpause, the rings don't stay around the planet and instead become part of the background.

The time step is too high. I should make it so that the time step automatically turns down so that won't happen.

i always turn the auto time step off and start slow and speed it up my self as the auto isn't very good eg i lose moons and planets if they are too close to each other with the auto time step on its just not fast enough at changing the speed to a point where its to late

Would it be possible to make an auto-timestep that would take particles in for example galaxies into account, so that it would automatically calculate the particles in them accurately enough to ensure they don't fly away if you use auto timestep in a simulation with them?

Or it could calculate the closest particles and/or bodies, and slow it enough for those objects.

For example, it wont have to scan all objects, it can just say, those look close. *SCAN*. Maybe scan all the candidates.

After when bodies collide, the new body still goes into deep space instead of stopping.

So, then the time step isn't that great I'm assuming? I just tried to put rings on a new Saturn with the time step to about 6 hours per second and they still shot off.
