I was playing around then the sun was shot off at the speed of light that proves Enstine wrong! ;D
-
Umm, it's a simulation. It's allowed to go faster than light. In real life, that isn't possible.
-
Still that's funny. :) ;) :D ;D >:( :( :o 8) ??? ::) :P :-[ :-X :-\ :-* :'(
-
Albert Einstein is wrong though. In a certain area, light slows down to like a few miles per hour. Now you can run faster than light.
-
What!!! ???
-
Umm, just read it...read it slowly.
-
No, it doesn't slow down, it get's absorbed and re-emitted by the atoms. :)
By the way, it shouldn't be allowed in a simulation either, I think. The speed of light isn't just a cap set on a linear line or something like that, the energy required to reach it grows exponentially, with the speed at light requiring infinite energy to reach. I think that's a part of the simulation, otherwise I would guess all the objects would get wrong velocities.
It has probably just been rounded off, from 0,995+c to 1c or something.

I meant what Enstine is wrong they don't teach that to you in physics
-
Einstein wasn't wrong. (http://universesandbox.com/forum/index.php/topic,1325.msg12921.html#msg12921) :)

ummm, it is possible, scientists have already accelerated photons and neutrons or some sort of mircroscopic material at over the speed of light, only a matter of time before its acheived with solid matter. :P cant wait, maybe 300 years from now
-
Yes, I know that. Cerenkov Radiation is created by electrons moving faster than the speed of light in water.
-
But in water light also only moves 75% of the speed in a vacuum, so there's still nothing moving faster than c. :) (Not that you said that)
But we should notice when it is said that something moves faster than the speed of light, it doesn't have to be faster than the speed of light in vacuum. :)
-
In fact, scientists have slowed light down to 40 miles per hour, inside clusters (the "fifth" state of matter) made of carbon dioxide.
-
And that proves Einstein wrong. Light slows down in different mediums, and so if you were in that medium, you can go faster than light if you can make something that allows you to.
-
Therefore, light can be outrun in a different medium, but not a vacuum.
-
That doesn't prove Einstein wrong, because he only stated that light has the speed of c in a vacuum. By the way, the reason why light travels slower in matter is because it is in fact traveling at c between the atoms, but is absorbed and then re-emitted with a delay.
-
I never said it proves him wrong.
Deoxy, think about this. If the medium slows down light, don't yu think it's going to be quite hard to get yourself as fast as light?
-
Okay, stop this argument. Forget it. You guys just won't listen to me.
-
Einstain said that nothing can travel faster than c , which is also the speed of light. The only particles which can reach c are the ones with no mass (like photons, so light).
c is a universal costant and it is always equal to 300'000 km/s.
In a medium it's light that travel slower than c when c doesn't become lower.
Is it clear now?
-
I said just forget it. Someone lock this thread.
-
Hey deoxy00... Don't take what others are saying personally. Everyone's just talking about science here. Locking the thread won't change what Einstein said or whether his theories are right or wrong.
-
Dan is right. ;D
-
ummm im just going to say this, everything, is infinit, time is forever, numbers keep going up and up for all etirnity, objects can be infinitly huge, or infinitly small, things can go infinitly slow, so perhaps they can go infinitly fast, every last other thing in the universe is infinit, and how can we say speed isnt, so what albert said that, come on we dont even know whats at the bottum of the deepest parts of the ocean, we know nothing, i say that anything can go faster then light, its just going to take some time to find a way to do it. I'm a genius :P
-
Well, not everything is infinite, speed can't be infinite, because the speed of light in a vacuum is the limit, and it's not infinite, because we can measure it. Mass can't be infinite, if the universe has a size that's not infinite, as well as energy, but only if that's true. Fields can't have their values go on forever...time has a limit, the end of time is when the universe ends...but only in the Big Crunch Model. Well, objects can have infinite size, only if it has no mass.
See? So many things aren't infinite...I believe in Albert Einstein, and whatever the pioneers of science say.
We know what's at the bottom of the ocean, because there was a submarine that went to the very bottom of the ocean. But it didn't last forever, because of the pressure.
(Is this like Bla's replies?)
-
Quoted it.
However we don't know much about the oceans...
-
Actually we do. We know the depths, because of Sonar. We know what's in the ocean, because we can go there, and even build ships to go as far as possible. We can see the things that live there. We know a lot about the ocean.
-
Moon > Oceans ;D
Also, we know more of our moon then of the ocean!
-
True. Humans can't go down to the surface without a submarine. So the ocean is still more mysterious (like the Bermuda or Dragon Triangle).

Yes, but do you know that there are thousends and thousends (if not millions) of species that we still have to discover?
Knowing the depths of the ocean isn't sufficient. It's like watching the mountains of an atlas and saying that we know lots of things about Earth. We just know it's surface but nothing more.

Learn to spell thousand.

we know more about mars then whats down there, in the last few years we discovered new speices never seen before, over 30 new ones, and we were lucky, they were either on the durface to escape things or there bodies were floating on the surface, there must be millions more speices, and we never went to the deepest part of the ocean (bottum of the marianas trench) while we have sent things to mars, does anyone even care about our own planet anymore?
-
Actually, humans did visit the Mariana's Trench. Submarines helped us, but we did it.
-
Visiting a place doesn't mean that we know it

Once.
I think.
For like an hour or something.
