Title: Le Mans
Post by: Bla on June 16, 2012, 01:07:20 PM
So is anyone following Le Mans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/24_Hours_of_Le_Mans) 2012 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans)? I've always been interested in Le Mans, was there once and I've followed the races every year since then. I hope Tom Kristensen (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Kristensen) wins. :P

And this is epikute. http://tv.audi.com/#/01 (http://tv.audi.com/#/01)

And this is official website. http://www.lemans.org/en/races/24h/update.html (http://www.lemans.org/en/races/24h/update.html)

But this car is most win. It was in Gran Turismo 3 and was what sparked my interest along with the Nissan-thing and Mazda 787B. :P

Kol Le Mans 2016 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_24_Hours_of_Le_Mans) just ended, I watched the last 30 mins. Toyota #5 was leading about 30 seconds in front of a Porsche, then the Porsche pitted with like 10 minutes left to drive it home safely and win a 2nd place. Then with 5 minutes left, the Toyota lost power. It crawled around the track and didn't go to pit but stopped a around the finish line for some minutes and got overtaken by the Porsche. When the race ended the Toyota couldn't finish the lap and didn't get classified. gg ouch

Also lmao of this is true (1998)

Second, Toyota learned about a loophole which Mercedes-Benz had exploited. All GT based cars were required to have storage space, capable of holding a standard sized suitcase, in order for the car to be considered not only production based, but usable by the public. Mercedes exploited this by putting a small cubby hole into an unused area underneath the rear bodywork, although it was not as easy to access as a normal trunk. Toyota, in their interpretation of the rules, were able to convince Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) officials that the car's fuel tank, normally empty when the car is scrutineered before the race, was allowable as a trunk space since it could, theoretically, hold a suitcase.
