A vortex at the sky!?
« on: December 10, 2009, 04:04:02 PM »
Norwegian authorities are investigating strange lights seen in the arctic sky. The spiraling white light was seen for several minutes on Wednesday morning. Locals say the light appeared to be bigger than the moon. Thousands of Norwegians bombarded the Meteorological Institute to ask what the light could possibly be. Some feared it could have been a meteor, others a black hole and there were those who thought it could have been aliens. But defence experts in Olso suggest its more likely to have been a failed Russian missile launch from the area of the White Sea. They think a rocket probably got out of control and self destructed. There's been no official comment from the Russian Military.

Russia's Defence Ministry says the latest test of its new Bulava intercontinental missile in the White Sea has failed. The announcement comes after Norwegian authorities reported strange spiral lights seen in the arctic sky which sparked a wave of UFO frenzy. But the Russian Defence Ministry have not linked the two incidents. The phenomenon comes a day before Obama arrives in Norway to receive his Nobel Peace Prize Award.

Don't worry SuperNova - We shalt use the Power of Our Great Science and Technology to overcome any threat from Space with the Greatest ease, and show Our Power and Might to any alien civilization that may be spying upon Our Earthly Greatness. :)

It was probably a Russian missile, according to this Danish article.

Yeah, The Russians made a missile and the missile went to White Sea, then failed.

Someone made these points, but I don't think they disprove that it was a missile.

Quote
1. The spiral is way too symmetrically perfect.  Look at the vortex shape its just too precise to be a rocket spinning around.  A rocket spinning would leave different shaped exhaust all over the place as the thrusters from a rocket have variations.

How is it too symmetrically perfect? Here is a simulation of an out of control rocket:

2. The color of the spiral is nothing what a rocket should be. Also there was no explosion just a fade out.

What color should a rocket be? Not all rockets explode when they malfunction. If the spiral was from burning fuel, it would fade out as it burned up.

3. Not sure on the accuracy of this but I read some article that state the rocket would have launched AGAINST the spin of the rotation of the earth and this would be counter productive and uncommon.

It's true that when you launch a rocket you factor in the spin of the Earth. If it's true that the evidence shows the spiral could only have originated from an object moving against the spin of the Earth, that would probably rule out a human launched device. Does the evidence actually indicate the object was moving in the incorrect direction?

I watched the video provided above, and it explains it fairly well.
It just looked so strange , probably because i've never seen such a thing.

Still awkward though as the day after the claims of a missile launch were denied by Russia but then a day later they said it was a missile launch.

Whatever it was it was quite amazing for sure.
