Betelgeuse Supernova arrival

 I might be mistaken but when people talk about Betelgeuse being 1.0×107 and it "going supernova". 
Would it not have not already went nova 1,300 yrs. ago with us just seeing the event 1,300 yrs. after the actual time due to it being 1,300 Light-years away or am I wrong here?

Since Betelgeuse is so far away, it could have gone supernova hundreds of years ago. Or maybe, it is still intact and will stay that way for several hundred thousand years.

Its actually about half that distance away, around 600 light years, give or take. Even if it exploded right now, we still wouldn't see it for centuries.

But maybe it blew up 599 years ago?
