Helpful hints:

Hidden chests often found on top of mountains
Hidden chests found in deep shafts that open on top of mountain
Ore is underground and rare ore including obsidian in hanging formations
It's possible to get to all the dimensions, i haven't done anything on the other dimensions though

WHOA! Is that water or a bottomless void surrounding it? Definetly don't want to fall.

Bring safety ropes at all times.

bottomless void, i spent an hour yesterday making 360 million blocks and then deleting them so now this island is floating with nothing around it for almost a kilometer (if you build a bridge far enough, you'll eventually reach normal land, but that isn't the point.)

Dare I ask what happens if you actually do fall into the bottomless void? Other than respawn at the main spawnpoint.

well not much, i set the respawn point to the island. (when you fall into the void you take damage and die (didn't know if you knew that)). If you've lost the only saplings on the map without planting a tree yet, you're pretty screwed and i'd like to see how long you last before you run out of wood to make swords and are ripped apart by mobs

also i didn't know you into'd minecraft. maybe you'd like to join bla's minecraft server, "blacraft"?

Yea, I played Minecraft a while back before the updates made all of the servers have mobs, and I'd rather play without the enemy mobs (the animals and harmless ones are fine) and since I really didn't like the new mode, I quit Minecraft as I simply died too easy. I played on one without mobs at the time.

These endermens and enderdragons though, they sound scary as hell.

they're fine really, endermen don't hurt you as long as you don't look at them. enderdragons live in another dimension. you're welcome to stay in spawntown, which is relatively safe. I surrounded my region in a wall of fire and spammed about a thousand torches and now it rarely spawns mobs; you can do whatever there too. Mobs only spawn in the dark, so if you sleep, and the game will skip to morning, mostly preventing mob spawns. (we have lots of beds )

What about underground mines though?

Honestly though, I just felt that I died way too easy with the mobs.

i/we can make you a sword and armor. With armor, you can take multiple hits and creeper explosions without dying easily. It's easier to splunk (cave exploring) together as you can support each other and in the event that you die, a group can pick up each other's items. we often go splunking together in blacraft, you might like it. also, torches, prevent mobs from spawning and you can place them in caves to stop anything from sneaking up behind you.

I could join up, but I'm going out of town tomorrow and not bringing the laptop and won't be back until Friday. I'll still have my iPhone obviously.

And its spelunking, but the 'e' is pratically silent anyways, so sp'lunking works I guess.

Smjjames, if you want to join, we can provide you diamond armor and sword, which I think would make it very hard to die. I have never used it myself, since iron seems good enough for me. We (or I at least) rarely use diamonds anyway, so whatever.
We had 245 diamonds in the collective storage and 16 in the public storage last Thursday.

A bit too hard maybe, the chests are sort of depressing when "1 egg!" or "1 wood!". And it gets sort of boring when you run out of skovle....

It was ok, it was hard in the start, but that's just because I'm too stupid not to run around the harsh landscape at night without armor or weapons.
