[Help request] Earth and satellites
« on: February 03, 2012, 12:45:07 PM »
So here is my problem this time:

I try to recreate a model containing Earth and a bunch of satellites as shown here:

http://www.gearthblog.com/satellites.html

I understand that for the model to be stable I have to set satellite masses as 0 values, ok so far. I can even change the required speed, distance from surface and obviously period.

I also get the inclination value which is already in Ubox. Combining inclination with the spot the satellite is on the map I can pretty much reproduce its orbit.

I just wanted to ask if there is any way to use the "perigee" and "apogee" values indirectly in Ubox.

Thanks a lot.

"perigee" and "apogee" are the two extremes of the semi major axis (sma).

Just average the two and use that for SMA.

Does that help?

Or check this simulation of satellites out:
