forum thread stock exchange:
IPO:
each thread is treated as a company and may go public via an IPO. in an IPO, anyone is able to vote on the market capitalization (total value) of the thread. the OP of the thread can decide the number of shares to set-up. if no one votes on the capitalization value in three days, the OP can decide that too. IPO must be made in a separate thread with a poll attached. the OP starts off with all the shares in an IPO.
Trading:
shares can be traded when two people agree on the price of a share(s). however, since this way is slow and clumsy, there is another option to sell or buy at market price. if one person agrees to sell at market price, as soon as another agrees to buy a market price, the trade will automatically happen. the market value of each stock is valued at the price of the last trade. each new trade cannot be different from the market value by more than 100%.
money:
everyone starts off with $100 and may make public a maximum of five of their own threads. there is an IPO fee of $50.
each post in a public thread will make the OP $1
In the real world, not all companies pay dividends (although established ones mostly do). However, in this case, the OP of the thread will decide on a dividend for each post. for example, the OP might decide each post will pay each share-holder $0.01 per share. dividends will be paid weekly.
inflation on the value of the dollar is 1% weekly. this also means stock prices will increase by 1% weekly.
other:
since threads have gone public, share-holders might vote on matters like locking the thread, changing the original post, adding a poll, or other features of a thread in order to stimulate activity. the OP does not have to listen to the shareholders, but the value of the stock might decrease if they do not.
there are no market regulations currently, however, if anyone is not interested in playing actively but is interested in being a regulatory body, apply below.
