Alter Ego

Alter Ego is a pretty in-depth and admittedly, rather emotional, browser based text game. A clone on an old Commodore game, in fact.
You progress by answering multiple-choice questions, which also shape your stats as a person. Start from birth, to your death.

I'd encourage you to try it out.

brilliant I used to love the old text based adventures on the 64 and spectrum

"you are in a warm dark comfortable place"

I even remember that. I'm pretty sure 99% of those text adventures started with that line :)
