you car spaazzzed out at 966.2 for me "due to floating-point precision errors"
but naise car
too bad you have to be on that page for the sim to run, and not have it quitely hidden

My trick was to drag it out of one Google Chrome browser, so it runs in an entirely seperate window instead of another tab. Then it still runs even if you have it minimized.

You blind watchmakers, you.
Like this? :P
A program written to evolve watches.

Framsticks looks really exciting, think I'll download it soon.

wait so this has practical applications

say you wanted to design a spaceship to mars
just write a program for that and then watch as a perfect designs happen
build one
???

Except for the fact that that would take about 20 million years.

ok i got the 3dvce program from stellar alchemy its awesome!
i'm running 80 individuals for 700 generations and if it keeps going at the current rate this'll only take 240 hours
:)
on generation 5 atm :P

the creatures are pretty much boxes, but you can also manipulate the environment with explosives, items, blocks and more. You can control night and day.

In addition, you can give the animals cretain body parts and brain parts and also restrict them.
What i think is different and sets this apart, is that you can actually give animals a goal, like carrying balls which would be like carry food (like ants). Or see which one can go the fastest over flat land or rough land!
You can have swimming creatures, creatures without gravity, evolve creatures at 100x gravity and more!

so like when i'm finished with my evolution i'll make a movie :P
but for now i still have 240 hours to go >.>

Awesome. I used to make simulations of those blocky things over rough land. I don't like manipulating with the environments, because it disturbs the evolution. It's more easy and fast to see when it only has one (or the same) problems to solve.

yes i know, i'm on generation 50 now and what sucks is that my animal is asymetrical. Its leg happens to just barely intersect past the symmetry line and as a result the other leg is completelu cut off!
Still, if it runs fast i guess its fine :D

What would be interesting would be having the settings to 50% move on rough terrain, and 50% carry balls, to simulate a creature to stockpiled food :D

On this topic....I have built an interactive evolution simulator. The idea is to show how an evolutionary process allows species to fit into their environment. I have made various aspects of the algorithm controllable by the user so they can see the different effects of each control.

If anyone wants to try it out, its at www.evolutionsimmed.com

Feel free to add suggestions as well as I intend to add to it over time.

Cheers, Dale

Kol, the random one is very naise, except that sometimes the terrain is very rough and sometimes it's very smooth.
