You might like to explore westward a little bit, but it's up to you really.

Yeah i was joking. You can get lava in the overworld, deep underground, but it's more abundant in the nether. You can get damaged by lava if you get close to it or stand above it too long.

I was putting windows into the side of the structure when suddendly, CREEPER AMBUSH OUT OF NOWHERE! ARRG! Also, another creeper had somehow spawned outside during the day (I am not sure how it got there) and exploded a few mossy cobblestone.

Whats the minimum light threshold needed to keep mobs from spawning? Because I swear I had removed all light 7 areas

it is light level 7. I like to count my torches and count the blocks to make sure nothing spawns

Well, it's a bit of a mess lighting wise, so there could be one square or so that I missed (I had smooth lighting off to help find the spots as well as have debug on), but anyways, I was just venting my frustration at those damn ninja creepers.

Uh, what the heck? Are hostile mobs outside suppoused to spawn before dusk? I'm asking because apparently a creeper spawned in the outside entrance area shortly before dusk. It didn't see me, so I was able to retreat to the house/farm nearby.

Also, a little earlier, I suddendly had a major lagspike, after I had restarted the app, I saw that a spider had apparently spawned inside somewhere (and I was absolutely sure that there were no light 7 spots on the floor) and was right against the door inside. Not sure if that was the cause of the lagspike.

Edit: I logged back in a minute ago and apparently another spider had spawned and was doing the up and down animation right next to the entrance on the inside, what the heck is going on here?......... Or maybe it was just another spider that had spawned along with the other one.....

Sure. I haven't put the bookcases in yet as I'm waiting until I fill up the chests in sugarcane storage.

I also had a thought whether the roof might be a source, so I went and checked and removed any light level spots below 9. There was one spot above the entrance where a creeper could have come from, however, it's 20 blocks up and I'm not sure if a creeper can survive that distance of a fall.

fall damage is half a heart for any block over 3 so

Damage=(1/2)h-3

creepers can survive a fall distance of 22 blocks.

I haven't had any more.... incidents... of those creepers or whatever, so whatever was causing them to spawn is gone now?

Anyways, its a good thing that the local biome for the whole Kaeshar region got randomized to ocean since the rainforest trees I planted would look kind of dead. I have no idea if that biome randomization that happened when we upgraded to 1.2.5 would have any effect on animal spawns in the areas that weren't desert previously.

Had to do the second one from the left over again two times, the first because I had made it a little close to the building and the second time because the tree ended up looking kind of stunted.
