magnetic alignment

By any chance, is magnetic alignment in the game? Because I would like to see my planets and other things be affected by magnetic fields

Magnetic fields can actually protect objects from mass loss in the game.

Aside from that, I'm not entirely sure if they do anything else.

Yes. Magnetic fields significantly reduces, if not completely stops mass loss. The one other feature I can think of is that the radii of the magnetic field visually changes in accordance with an object's proximity to a star. The closer to a star an object, the smaller its magnetic field's radii. I'm fairly certain they serve no other purpose at this point in the game's development.

Magnetic alignment will most likely be added as a feature in the future.

Magnetic fields currently only create a magnetosphere that protects the planet from solar winds. you can enable the visibility of the magnetosphere in the magnetic field settings.
