also I have a question regarding the rules which I figured we should all discuss
Currently the
rules say "Tie breaking is the following: song with the most number of voters wins; the same number of voters makes it based on running order."
I talked with yqt about it a while ago but I figured I'd bring it up to everyone that the rules currently do not have a tiebreak typical of most song contests (ISC, Eurovision, etc), which is after counting the most number of voters, to count the highest points (so, most 15s), then second highest (12s), etc, until one of the songs has more of them. If all points received is the same (basically never for songs with a substantial amount of points),
then the tie is broken on running order. I find breaking ties on running order so often (without the second step, as is done now) to be particularly arbitrary and up to random chance. If a winner was broken on running order *cough* Univision VIII *cough*, it might be considered kind of unfair. So I would like to open up for discussion the current tiebreaking rules and if we should make any changes to them. Ideally, I think we would add this intermediate tiebreaking step, unless anyone has better tiebreaking ideas.
Yqt can comment on why he didn't want this in the rules originally if he would like.
