Indeed.
A molten planet should give off enough light to illuminate a moon near by. But for a molten planet to heathe up a moon in orbbit, the moon would need to be very close to the planet.
If the earth was molten, the moon wouldn't heat up, but the luminosity of the molten earth, would emit it's own light.
But the moon wouldn't be heared up.
But if the molten earth had rings like Saturns, the the asteroids in the inner ring would be heated up by the molten earth, and they would be small enough to not be effected by earth's Roche effects.
But the outer asteroids probably wouldn't be heated up, if at all.
