Old Galaxies/ Better?

I don't know about you guys, but the galaxies in the older us2 looked better, apart from when the galaxies actually "collided."

Thats because the galaxies were literally from an image, pixel by pixel. Where as in us2, they show clouds of (stars?) which fill in the gaps where US couldn't. But US2 galaxies are literally full of lag and my pc will stop simulating the galaxy. In the original, performance worked like a charm.

I guess theres a pros and cons between simulators.

Indeed. But the "gassy" galaxies we have now look bad. Back then the galaxies looked decent, until they collided. But let's hope they make better galaxies in the future.

Currently the collision doesn't even exist, the galaxies pass into each other and disperse as they go out the other side not to colide again. This is much less realistic than the old version. Maybe for performance's sake, the old galaxy system could be used with blurred splotches instead of single tiny particles?

I remember I modded the original UBOX once as an experiment to make the galaxy particles larger.

In short, the result was an ugly mess. :|

I personally prefer the newer galaxies, but I see what you guys are getting at.

they just need to fix the procedural generation for the galaxies, which they have planned.

They will. But I just think the galaxies from older versions just look way better. While the ones we have know just look like very low resolution and and blurry version of what they used to look like.

I like the texture of the new galaxies better, but the shape of the new galaxies look bad. You can barely see the spirals.

I see what you mean, and I agree.
