Saunvare Ask Me Anything
« on: March 30, 2016, 01:38:34 PM »
ask me anything you want to about saunvare

some quick intro - It is a habitable (albeit not by humans) planet with carbon-based life, and it has three four small uranian-sized moons. It orbits a small orange star and is a super earth with over 5 earth masses.

You can legitimately ask anything, and I'll try to give an answer. But please keep the questions related to Saunvare or the life on it.

Where is saunvare relative to universalis
Saunvare is in a different solar system. It used to be universalis's outer neighbor but I really liked it so I took it and now it's somewhere else. It might be 50, 500, 5000, or 50000 light years away idk. I don't even know if they're in the same galaxy.

i thought this was going on reddit, why isn't it?
i don't have much cannon and reddit would ask super specific questions

also r/worldbuilding only really cares about the people of the world and saunvare has nothing defined about its people other than they exist

do you think saunvare is capable of having advanced civilizations form on it?

Well, first off, you would suddenly weigh 90% more than you do here on earth, so that would be a big bummer no matter where you were on the planet. Another big bummer is the high methane and helium content in the atmosphere, so your voice would be permanently high. Finally, depending on where you were on the planet, you would either die of heat stroke in the 65°C tropics or otherwise find it very hot basically anywhere you went. So basically visiting Saunvare is pushing the human body to its limits.

do you think saunvare is capable of having advanced civilizations form on it?
Well, it does have all the ingredients that Earth does, including a magnetic field along with atmosphere, oceans, rain, etc, but any civilizations would have a very hard time getting into space because of the oppressively thick atmosphere (3992mb sea level pressure) and the intense gravity (1.9 Gs)

What are the most prominent differences between Saunvare and the Earth?
Saunvare is much larger than Earth and as a result is hit by comets and asteroids more often. It's also further out in the solar system so there are more random objects. As a result, its life is more resilient than Earth's on top of living in conditions that are entirely poisonous to lifeforms on Earth that aren't heat-loving bacteria. There are also ferocious thunderstorms and hurricanes due to the much higher height of the tropopause. Winds at the surface are usually calmer than they are here, though. There is also a much different split in its (multicellular) kingdoms of life, with two analogous kingdoms for each type of creature which are wholly incompatible genetically with each other.

Peptidoeukaryota and deoxyseukaryota are two unrelated domains, both with multicellular organisms, and many analogous species.

About 6 billion years, its star formed 6.12 billion years ago.

I like moons. Tell me about the characteristics of the three moons - their size, their orbit, their composition, their colour, or something else.
Well, as you saw in irc, it now has four moons. The inner two moons are in a 1:2 resonance, with the inner one dominating as it has a high mass. At least two of its moons are in hydrostatic equilibrium, and the other two may or may not be, they're just about the size where it's questionable.

The tallest mountain is a pathetic 4429m, named Everest Junior by me, just now, because I don't have a map of elevation yet.

The deepest crevice (i'm assuming you mean oceanic trench) is about 7000m down. There are lots of sink holes in areas with deep, rich, porous soils slash rocks and high rainfall, so they are prevalent throughout much of the tropics.

Intriguing. So how long does it take for Saunvare to complete its "wobble" on it's axis? does it even tilt to begin with?
