Share your creations!
« on: August 25, 2015, 06:24:29 AM »
With the ability to save simulations and objects enabled, we're excited to see what all of you have created!

Who wants to share a screenshot of his/her creation and attach the saved file too?

Go to Home->Debug Tools->Open My Simulation folder to find your saved ".ubox" files.

Attach the ones you want to share to your post and give us a small explanation of what's inside :)

3...2...1...GO!

Well, I'll begin. This sim attached shows two moons orbiting in opposite directions. It surprisingly is a stable system.

This thread should be stickyed, by the way!

Here's a circumbinary (Yes, you heard me correct, it took me like an hour or two to get this stable and low eccentricity orbits) system, 4 planets total, one of which is habitable, and one is a gas giant.

I present, The Alberon System!
The first image shows the main planet, Alberon A, which is roughly two and a half times larger than Earth with small seas and large desserts. It also has an unusually similar atmosphere to Earth and has a surface pressure of about 1.45 atm, but has a gravity of about 73 m/s^2 (about 7 times Earth's gravity).
The second image shows Alberon B, a large moon roughly 1,200km with large oceans. The Moon has an atmospheric mass of about 57 kPa and a surface gravity of about 1.5 m/s^2.
Alberon A's rings are a mixture of Ice (shown in white) and an odd brown material of which we cannot match to any known element.
I will add a download to the system after I finish tweaking it a bit.

How do you make your system stable?

It's all trial and error,  trying out different velocities, etc. and that's why it took so long to make.

Earth vs. Asteroid

So...I launched an asteroid that heated up to 12000 degrees to the Earth and this is the case...

IN THE ATTACHMENT!

What have we learnt: We are not going to get destroyed by an asteroid. It will just create a giant Hot Tub of Lava on the surface of the Earth and shoot a bunch of fireworks into the Sky.

I present to you, a fully loaded quadruple star system, one star just over 1 and a half times the sun's mass, another just under one and three quarters the size of the sun, another, a red dwarf, just over a tenth the mass of our star, and a Y class Brown Dwarf, only 16 and a half times the mass of the largest planet in our solar system, Jupiter. There are 34 planets, 4 of which may be classified as more of "moons" to the brown dwarf. The Red Dwarf system includes a cometary body, and one of the more major stars includes a very close-in asteroid belt. This system includes an astounding 8 habitable planets, equipped with water and suitable temperatures, although a few of these planets have an extremely thin atmosphere.

The Diroji system
« Reply #20 on: September 08, 2015, 06:57:13 PM »
Unfortunately i can't figure out how to post the screenshots however i can give you details of my system.

1st/2nd Planet
Name: Mimisaki
Mass: 0.47 Earths
Radius: 5,140 kilometers
History/Description: This planet used to be the Atruness's moon. However when it's parent star gained mass it pulled Mimisaki away from Atruness also forcing those two planets under radically elipse orbits that constantly change their places as 1st or 2nd planet.

1st/2nd Planet
Name: Atruness
Mass: 2 Earths
Radius: 7,915 kilometers
History/Description: Atruness used to have Mimisaki as a moon. However just like mimisaki it constantly changes places as 1st or 2nd planet.

3rd Planet
Name: Diroji
Mass: 0.55 Earths
Radius: 5,471 kilometers
Moons: 2 primary(Diroji ll and Diroji lll) and 4 secondary(Nira, Yachella, Kapellah, and Ressier).
Description: Diroji is the only planet able to sustain primitive life. It also holds another lunar system inside it's own.

Extra
Name: Kapellah
Mass: 0.0029 Moons
Moon: 1(Ressier)
Radius: 288 kilometers
History/Description: Kapellah formed naturally like Diroji ll and lll. When asteroids like Nira and yachella came to orbit Diroji, an asteroid named Ressier somehow got close to Kapelah and surprisingly begins to have a stable orbit.

4th Planet
Name: Morganna
Mass: 2.85 Moons
Radius: 1,858 kilometers
Description: This is the only planet that's isolated from anything except a few asteroids since Umivera A and B sucked in asteroids. Morganna somehow survived the ordeal making it an enigmatic planet.

5th and 6th planets
Names: Umivera A and Umivera B
Mass: Umivera A: 13.3 Earths, Umivera B: 6.34 Earths
Radius: U.A: 37,000 km, U.B: 28,000 km
History/Description: Umivera A was all by itself until about 1.7 billion years ago Umivera B came close to it and began a rare close Double system each other. Both are Gas Giants.

7th Planet
Name: Tinfit
Mass: ???
Radius: ???
Description: This planet is probably the most enigmatic of all the planets. No one knows how it survived Umivera A and B's cataclysmic dance. Tinfit might not have formed naturally like the closer planets. What mysteries lie behind it?

Main star
Name: Yeromo
Mass: 0.71 suns
Radius: 920,000 km
Description: This is the only star in the Diroji system.

Another circumbinary system!

Stars stats:
A: 1.7 suns
7991 Degrees K
Type F or early G, appox.

B: 0.927 Suns
5158 Degrees K
Type G, possible a very early K

Planets stats

A has 6 planets
B has 8 planets and an asteroid belt
Barycenter AB has 5 planets

A has one habitable planet, and one airless planet with high, but water suitable temperature, but has none due to lack of atmosphere

B has 3 habitable planets, and an airless but water-suitable temp.

Nearly every planet has a moon(s)

I have seperated a sim with and without moons so it can be easier to see the outermost planets orbits'.

Solar System with major comets
« Reply #25 on: September 13, 2015, 06:39:05 AM »
This simulation allows you to see the different orbits of most well known comets. Do note that most of these don't have a dust tail even at perihelion. Lovejoy would most likely to be shown to be crashing in the Sun, re-orbiting itself extremely close to Sun after perihelion, or, less likely, burn up. Comets PANSTARRS - C/2011 L4, ISON - C/2012 S1, and McNaught - C/2006 P1 have estimated approximate semi-major axis or eccentricity.
