I'm trying to make a page which will keep track of time in all the significant timezones/places on Universalis. But without your help, I can't do anything. I already have Blanaxon Standard Time and Amalthean Standard Time. We have some timezones on the official map but they're 24-hour based and some people didn't even do theirs. If you want your time to be tracked live I'm going to need some sort of base calendar to work from, time zones, and a (somewhat) standardized definition of a day.

Here's the facts: A Universalian solar day is 21.1066 Earth hours long. There are 248.101 Universalis solar days in a Universalian year. It is currently year 984, based on a baseline of October 14, 1399.

Your job is to vote and discuss a standardized definition of a day. I based my program on Solea's year so it runs off the fact that the year 980 started a certain amount of days calculated from the format of the calendar (its leap years mostly), but if you calendar doesn't suck this should match up for any of them. Problem is I'm just assuming Month 1, Day 1 is southern hemisphere winter, but this hasn't been discussed with anyone. Also, the Soleani and Blaist days are divided into 16 hours each with 64 minutes.

I like 16 hours since Blaland uses a base 16 system, but whatever is the official way to divide the day Blaland would probably use divisions of 16 anyway (to keep the system a bit like SI).
I don't consider it very important whether the first month is in northern or southern winter. I assumed it was in northern winter. But the only difference it would make to my calendar is whether there should be an extra vacation week around the first month or middle months corresponding to summer in Blaland. I think I'd also like month 1 for southern winter so New Year can be at a dark time of year but maybe that goes for everyone.

The time units are defined from physical constants so there's e.g. a leap day every ~10 years that makes sure the calendar stays in sync with the seasons. Since it's not exactly an 1/10 year offset, extra leap days can be inserted there on rarer occasions (or cancelled if that's what they should).

no but people do for communication and it'd be nice to be on the same page when talking about dates rather than being like 'hi this happened at year 60 on month kaisfddsjif day 3294320 and heckie you if you don't know when that is'

we can all have different times and dates and calendars and never be able to collaborate on history ever and the nations on universalis can have problems trading and conducting diplomacy and everything like that

and beside that point, do people use anything beside 24 hour days in the modern world?
