Me neither... I've killed 67 spiders, 16 crane flies and 1 harvestman in my home since May, many of them in the middle of the night. :(

It's mostly pholcidae that bother me though, I hate long legs, but strangely the crane flies aren't a problem

Wearing clothes that cover all of you helps as it decreases the risk they'll crawl on you so I can recommend putting on a jacket with a hoof and some gloves if you need to deal with one you don't want to touch :b

This is my spider fighting uniform (gas mask not included)

I don't have anything against moths. I try to move them out as I generally try to get rid of bugs I suspect spiders eat so I don't get more spiders, but I rarely kill them.
I don't like crane flies for their long and swirly legs so I usually kill them, spiders probably like to snack them too, but I don't have a big problem with them like with cellar spiders.

In a way cellar spiders are similar to crane flies with the legs

Who else here doesn't like cellar spiders?

1: Prevention, avoid keeping food around to avoid attracting bugs that eat your food, and thus bugs that eat bugs and so on. Avoid having many open windows (that's pretty hard for me as I have only ventilation in the bathroom and no air conditioning during the summer), avoid living close to forests, swamps or other places that bugs are fond of, avoid organizing your home in ways that creates many dusty places and other havens for bugs. Inspect them often so unpleasant bugs don't start building their own colonies so they don't develop into technologically advanced societies that may end up threatening your home with nuclear weapons if left alone for long enough.

Consider spraying anti-[bugs you don't like] spray in places where you least like them to be. I don't like spiders on the ceiling and in corners as they're harder to fight, so I spray most in there, and in window frames and around the door frame so they're less likely to want to enter when I open them, oh and under the tables. And below the bed. And in the refrigerator. Ok just spray it everywhere.

2: Protection, if you don't want to touch the bugs, wear clothes that cover as much of you as possible. That makes you more calm when you have to deal with them. I can offer you specially crafted spider-googles at a discount price if you'd like, and a homemade, super-effective gas mask that makes sure you're safe from centipede exhausts during battles. You don't want to succumb to that.

3: I guess there are different strategies for different bugs, for spiders I usually move the swatter slowly close up to the spider at first (they rarely react when I do it slowly), and then swat it quickly. I've never seen centipedes in my house so Idk about them. Maybe you could just try asking it how many legs it has, and then it'll become really confused, and then you exploit the situation swat it. With a bit of manipulation you can often make bugs go where you want them to if you nudge them gently from the correct angles.
I think there are also some fly swatters that can electrocute bugs but I've never tried such a thing.

The bugs I've found in my home since May 1st, 2014:

UNKS = unknown spider
WL = woodlouse
PHOL = pholcidae/cellar spider
TEG = tegenaria
CRF = crane fly
UNKB = unknown bug (and harvestmen/a few others I knew but didn't spend time making a separate category for here)

I interpret the woodlice-richness of the ecosystem as a healthy sign I'm winning the war against spiders, but it will be interesting to see if the pholcidae launch a summer offensive. I'm escorting as much of the woodlouse population outside as I can so they won't be spider snacks and support a sneaky invasion.

Kol this new Google docs feature "explore" generates some charts when you click it. Pretty nice, I considered making many of these charts myself occasionally but now I don't need to spend the minutes, even though they're not exactly top quality. Here's some of what it generated.

A tegenaria atrica with leg span of 6.5 cm, probably the largest I've found this year (haven't had that big spider problems this summer). I think they grow up to 10 cm max.

And no, I like to track it and it would be fun to see if I could find some periodic dependence on the seasons kol. Or see if it's possible to find relations between spider numbers and other bugs they may eat. I guess I won't get enough data though.
