No justice, no peace!

So I find it funny a guilty man wasn't even given a trial, and he was set free. This is not up for discussion.

"If you’re protesting abortion, the Supreme Court says you can get right in women’s faces and scream at them on their way into the clinic. Because freedom of speech.
But if you try and protest the murder of a black man, you get tear gas fired at you."

also on a related note, reminder that in 1999 a court "found that [Martin Luther King Jr] had been the victim of assassination by a conspiracy involving the Memphis police as well as federal agencies."

There's a difference between getting in someone's face and setting a walgreens and police car on fire.

The copper should've been processed properly, his actions in the line of his duty questioned and scrutinized, and proper penalties handed down for his actions. But what people in Ferguson are doing by rioting is destroying themselves, their community, and their livelyhoods, not the police or government.

This so many times. The cop should have had an actual trial, but the riots are pointless destruction

Last night I watched a smaller protest outside of Ferguson on a live stream, somewhere nearby, and it was pretty peaceful for the most part... yet for some reason there were riot police? There was nearly a policeman for every person. They shot tear gas into the crowds to disperse them, and rubber bullets at a few people. Not to mention the way police acted to them at some points when they had closer interaction, they were pretty dickish. Several people were arrested. For peacefully protesting. There were plenty of people not rioting and burning things that got just the same treatment. Let's not let the media take the event and sensationalize it and marginalize the problem because some people are (somewhat understandably) violent.

But what people in Ferguson are doing by rioting is destroying themselves, their community, and their livelyhoods, not the police or government.
There were some businesses (in Ferguson) that were being protected by groups of protestors(? unsure on this, I recognize it's possible it's not them but that's what I got from it) because they were local and trusted. Over there, it seems they were more crazy, more people were letting out their anger and there were likely outside people with other motives.

Police in Ferguson also shot tear gas into residential neighborhoods. I'm unsure on the situation, but presumably there was no one over there.

Overall, I got the feeling the police were just high on the fact they have cool toys and power.

(this video was not last night, but gives an example)

"It is its own weird brand of dystopia that a whitewashed movie celebrating revolt against a police state will earn a bajillion dollars in the same week that people protesting excessive authoritarian violence and injustice are forcibly suppressed and given racist treatment by a largely unsympathetic public"

I absolutely hate the fact that there wasting there time rioting instead of banding together to as a community, i know there in pain but..to just take there pain out on there community is stupid... there's a time for action and there's a time for words and level headedness and this is one of those times for words because people that thing that Micheal got what he deserved will use stuff like this agents both him and his community  :( when i first heard about this i acutely teared up  this is the third time something like this has happened

That's really unfortunate. Especially considering he didn't even rob him

kip, the fact that Wilson is guilty is not up for discussion (discussion related to Wilson in general), other aspects of the situation are

"You’re right, we should totally ignore peoples’ valid rage and anger and their case for justice if they happen to be destroying property while they protest. Destroying things to make a point is wrong. Next we know they’ll be throwing a lot of tea into the ocean or something."
