New Simulation Suggestion: Comet Sliding Spring passing Mars
« on: October 19, 2014, 08:49:43 PM »
Today, the comet Sliding Spring passed Mars about 3 times closer than the Moon to Earth. Thats only about 87000 miles! Anyways, i'm wondering if Universe Sandbox 2 is going to have a simulation of this. It would be pretty cool to see it.

I think we should wait until it actually happens so we can get realistic data on it first .-.

Hey! "Comet collision with Earth" would be an awesome sim!

Acully you can already do that - just get deimos or phobos to collide with earth, they have around the mass of a comment, the problem is that its not really that awsome, in fact its quite dull, id rather slam mars into the earth than get a comet hit us

I meant have an actual comet on an orbit that crosses with Earth. Just smashing a small object at 10m/s into Earth isn't at all like a Comet Collision.

Good idea... I might have time to add in the upcoming Alpha 12.

A real commet collision with earth?! and you WANT it?! You would probably die from one of the after affects of the collision if the commet is big enophe

er... im sure they meant in US2...

A comet collision simulation with a comet on a realistic orbit that at some point crosses the earths orbit and collides with it.  Yeah its better than just spawning an object on the edge of earths atmosphere and calling it a comet collision.

I know I do, we as humans deserve a little cosmic catastrophe.

Comet Collision=Big Heat, Very dust cover
Dust cover=cold
Cold+Humans=Chicxulub all over again
