It depends. Galaxies are very WIP at the moment, and I think you need to decrease your graphics level and/or timestep.

I guess your computer, like many, is not optimized for US2.

Have you installed OpenGL?

Or is it OpenCL?

No it must be OpenGL.  Its quick and easy to install.  In short, without it, your framerates will drop down to 3fps even while simulating the solar system.
