I do not doubt that you heard this. Dan did say that at one point, but he had to change his mind because of the cost to make the game. Giant Army needs money to do their job. Sorry bud.

No, that was before Dan Dixon made his tiny company called Giant Army.

He and his team need the money since they've been putting a lot of funds and time into this awesome program. Dan wanted it to be free but unfortunately that's not financially possible for him

And anyway, this is way too cool to be for free in the first place. Wouldn't you feel better if you were supporting great people while playing a great game?
