Large object Vs small object impact bug

I, out of curiosity, bombarded earth with about 50 bowling balls. After about 10 impacts I'd managed to melt earth's surface, bear in mind they only had a relative velocity of 30km/s. Impacts of this energy are a regular occurence on earth, shouldn't melt it whatsoever. Where is this melting coming from?

I can confirm that, though I wasn't able to melt it, it still raised the planet temperature a lot (dozens of degrees for something that shouldn't even pass the atmopshere)

I'll quote myself here from another post.

"We're working on getting the collisions right for large bodies at the moment.

We've sort of neglected handling bowling balls and dice for a little bit, so they're not working right at the moment. Once we get the main collisions working as we'd like, we can double back around to take care of smaller object interactions."
