Me and Pinkyhtefoxxywasp were just talking on Steam about lenses, when I had a great idea.
Why not have lenses in US2? There could be different modes for them, of course:
Fixed: Lens stays where it is regardless of gravity wells.
Natural: Lens behaves like a natural object and collapses on it's own gravity if too massive.
Ghost: Objects pass through as if lens did not exist, but lense still affects light.
There are many other possibilities, not going to think of any right now, though.
There can also be many different actions:
Lensing slider: Slider for how sharp the lens is
Thickness slider/number (Thickness measured in metric units (also option to change to imperial)): measure for lens thickness
Lens shape: Circular/oval/triangle/etc.
The lenses could be used as a death ray kinda thing for killing life on a planet or melting rock/ice.
There could also be a little dot for where the light will concentrate for more accurate results
Also, another idea relating to this could be mirrors, for reflecting light into lenses or other mirrors to creat a matrix of light. They could also be used to focus light into an ice cap (for terraforming)
A good question is why this would be useful in an educational program.
It's so I can finally fulfill my dream of burning Equestria to the ground.
LOLJK. Sorry.
It's to teach people how light moves around on reflective and concentrating surfaces, but hey, the former is good too (LOLJK again).
Would be pretty difficult to program, though (I think). Maybe a lot later than the initial release.
