Question about the physic

Hi there,

I really enjoy creating very small but Very very massive objects   Like a 2m radius bowling ball that has  a third of the mass of the moon, and then crashing it on the Earth or any planets.

I wonder how the simulator might react with such an impact.

Right now, even if it move at 600 m/s  the object is too small to make any noticeable crater or impacts.
but we all know that something this massive could do massive damages.

Also, I wonder if you will make an option in-game to allow or disallow Relativity, Since it is very easy in this game to get anything faster than light.

Just make the sun the mass of the Milky way and voila!



I created a bowling ball with the mass of a million of Milkyway and put crap in orbit at a distance of less than one metre.   I had to put the time scale to super slow motion ( something like 0.00000001 milliseconds  to see it move properly but it was fun.


Or the opposite, A light object with incredible speed.

It would be fun to see the massive damage a super fast object could create on impact.

600 m/s and 2 meters is not really that fast.
Generally we align ourselves with the equations used in work like
http://www.purdue.edu/impactearth/
You will see that even if you enter 60km/s (lower limit in that one is 11km/s), you will not get much of an effect on the surface.
Currently we do not handle atmospheric collisions.

( oops sorry I made a spelling mistake, I meant 600 km/s not metres :/ )


The thing is that it weight a third or a quarter of the entire mass of the moon.

It mean that the density of this object would be about:  5.48E+20 Kg/m3 - ( as the Quarter of the mass of the moon )



According to the website you just mentionned the energy released before impact would be about
4.76 x 10^31 Joules = 1.14 x 10^16 MegaTons TNT

at 72 km/s

It has the mass of 0.00406 Milkyways or 2'356'840'986 Suns

Just tried this:

- Add Earth
- Add Bowling Ball
- Set velocity of ball to 0
Starts to fall in toward the Earth
- Lock Radius of the Bowling Ball
- Set Mass to .3 moons
- Set velocity of Moon to 600 km/s

Earth is a glowing black hole with a mass of 1821 milky ways.

Yeah... that's not working correctly... it's a crazy scenario, but it should work better than that.

I am the master of Crazy scenarios :3


While abusing of the physic, I noticed something strange.

I set the mass of a few thousand Galaxies to a Bowling ball and tried to orbit Betelgeuse and  VY Canis Majoris  in a flat line

( Majoris - Bowling ball - Betelgeuse )

Then both collided together and  VY Canis Majoris Became a Super Giant Gas planet with a very very low density   The radius was over 1 or 2 AU which is strange..

( Sadly I forgot to take a screenshot )

Weird things happen when I abuse :3

I should apply for a Game tester somewhere XD
