Reports of Strange things.
« on: June 26, 2014, 08:43:00 AM »
Hi there,

I wanted to tell you that during my gameplay I have noticed several strange phenomenon.
Some of which seems like bugs but they might just be something else.

The pictures are pretty big, I added a direct link to the image to be sure you can see it properly.

First is that Shadows do not form properly in eclipse

As seen in this picture, The moon is in total eclipse,  About at the same height than the ISS, It does look out of place.
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/579026297100184055/D1469465E2EC9D8E57AAFBE6550273A598821C8B/

Second is This weird lines on the terrain. They are Vertical and Horizontal lines filled with water.
It is pretty hard to see but  there are many line like this to different places

An other thing is that When I modify the value of any object,  Like the sun or a planet, If i increase the mass to an extremly high amount the simulation just stop.

I try to make the earth more massive than a black hole to suck everything to it but the simulation just stop and don't want to play again.
The game is fine but it is just on hold or something.
I tried to do the same with the sun, I locked the Radius and added a few digit to the mass but the same happen, It become all black with a white outline and the simulation stop.
Everything around the Sun just stop existing as they were.

There is also a weird issue with the Sun rendering as seen from a Point of view of Earth. It look like this.
http://cloud-4.steampowered.com/ugc/579026297100837140/5CFF712A8134984C10872F31CEC371B8D38A0339/

I don't have screenshots for the rest.

Next is that when i try to modify the Height or the orbit of an object orbiting a planet ( I only tried with several object I put in orbit around the Earth )

Then it move the object very close to the sun.

I tried to add a Pool Ball at the same height as the ISS, once I modified the Height or any orbital proprieties, it teleported itself near the sun with random values.

Next is a climate Bug,  I like the feature that if the Planet is lock on the sun, the other half get frozen but what is weird with this is that if i reduce the rotation (time of a day ) to 364 days so it is not perfectly lock,  Then all the ice melt and will never freeze again, and the planet will follow it's normal circle.

It would be far more interesting if it was dynamic and a too long period of night will actually change the temperature.  I think at least 30-40 days should be all right.

I don't have anything else to report right now, But it seems that I can not load " Earth and 5000 Moons" simulation,  The game just froze and I had to shut it down with the Task manager.

Added some new observations

Here's some picture of weird rendering.

All the moon are exactly the same size. - Proof

POV from the Earth,  The moon just render one over an other.

Oh, I don't know why but when climate is activated, It is not possible to burn the Earth with large impact.

I need to disactivate the Climate system for the change in temperature to work.

Will climate be integrated to every planets?

And I wonder why does a planet go to a Gas Giant when it become too massive,  It sound quite weird to me since  It is mainly solid rock, not gas.

I understand it might be some sort of evolution system you guys created but  I think it should only be working if you mess with the atmosphere and that the planet is like 90% Gas

use the bug report button not the forum

Ah well, I see quite a lot of people using the forum, I though it was the right thing to do.

I did also send some by using the Feedback / Bug button in game.

It's okay to post on the forum, but it was preferred if you could use the feedback button.
But since you did, it's not a big deal.

It could also be a great way for the alpha testers to see what could be the issue as well. You know, collaboration I guess.

well if you need pictures the forum is probably the best way to report them (but you could also submit a bug report too)

Agreed, I wanted to post a few pictures here, Plus I try to report as much as I can with the feedback option ingame.

Sometime, I feel like if I was spamming :/

I think it's fine to use the forums, if you need to post pictures or in depth information about bugs. The forum and the bug reporting options are just tools, and you use the best one for the issue at hand.

I'll take some time to review your reports and see what the causes are.

I got a lighting problem here

I just spawned a massive planet near the Earth and every time it get in total eclipse, that weird thing happen.

Here is an other screenshot of a weird glitch

Contrary to what you might think first, the Earth is not very small and it is not very close to Jupiter.

The Earth is normal sized and it is as far away from Jupiter than the Moon is from the Earth. and it is at the other side of Jupiter.

Basically, what we are seeing there is the Earth through Jupiter which don't make much sense.

I don't even know why there is a Shadow on Jupiter either.

Hey there, I noticed an other thing.

When you place stars very far from the solar system the Light from these stars doesn't seems to be affected by the distance.

I mean that the Earth get lighted about the same way as if it was a new Sun.

Look at the pictures.

In this picture I put some random stars around the Solar System. the closest star is Sirius B  I think it is around 4 Light years away. ( there is no way to show the actual distance relative to a target when I place anything. )

And here, it's what the Earth looks like.

It would be nice to get a proper lighting.

This problem was solved in alpha 5 (I think)
however, is a lighting problem.
Maybe resolve in Alpha 8.
